CENTIPEDE STYLE KUNG FU
 蜈式功夫

Centipede Style Kung Fu is a combat level martial art taught at Imperial Combat Arts school in Denver CO. In the Eight Animal System, Centipede is a small part of the vast ground combat system called Black Scorpion. In Black Scorpion the art of Centipede Kung Fu is a fairly small series of techniques that represent being on on the ground both prone and supine. From this position Centipede is powerful kicking, and rolling, and chin na style.

CENTIPEDE TOUGHENING

To truly master Centipede Kung Fu requires highly toughened shins and feet as well as full body conditioning. Instructors at Imperial Combat Arts demonstrate the true power of Centipede by kicking through staves, bats, and concrete, all from the ground. Centipede uses the highly toughened feet and legs already trained in the Main Animal Styles to break the lower legs, knees, feet, or attack the groin. Additionally high level hand toughening and grip strength is required to master Centipede, for use in its Chin Na.

CENTIPEDE CHIN NA

Centipede Kung Fu trains a very close and confined style of chin na for tight spaces where physical movement is almost completely restricted. At this range where its too tight for strikes and joint locks, Centipede masters a series of compression strikes and uses highly toughened grips to finish opponents. You could liken this to the tight spaces in which the real predatory Myriapoda live, under stones/rocks, and how kill their prey. If more space is available Centipede will transition into other Black Scorpion positions as part of a complete system.

CENTIPEDE KICKS

Centipede is an art of a hundred kicks from the ground, not an exact number but in how fast these flurries and combinations are thrown. These kicks with highly toughened feet, are done in the lowest realms of combat and can break the lower leg and knees of opponents. The sheer pain, speed, and intensity of this style has sent trained fighters running or climbing up the walls to escape. Centipedes unique style of kicking is also used in tight confined spaces along with the hands, knees, and elbows to move at very fast speeds.

CENTIPEDE POSTURE

The Centipede posture allows for running speeds in tight spaces like tubes, tunnels, or under cars. This style of movement works on the back or stomach, as well as a forward or reward direction. Centipede also performs very fast sideways rolling for evasion and chin na. Students develop this mode of movement along with all other maneuvers of Black Scorpion each class in heavy and high endurance exercises. New recruits are amazed and the speed of which advanced students move in these postures, as well as their tremendous endurance.

STANDING CENTIPEDE

In Centipede Style Kung Fu there are a series of techniques performed from standing. For Chin Na its usually against a wall or in a very tight crevasse. Centipede pairs with the styles of Spider and Lizard for climbing in any type of vertical terrain. Centipede will also use the fast rolling its trained on the ground, for standing evasion spinning up to three full circles in the air in the same time a punch can be thrown. Like an athlete spinning thru or around opposing team members, this ability has evasive uses as well as uses for counter attacks.

CENTIPEDE TRANSITIONS

Centipede Kung Fu has techniques and maneuvers that transition it into all of the other Black Scorpion ground fighting positions. These other styles and positions combine to encompass all aspects of combat ground fighting. Of all of these styles Centipede Kung Fu represents one of the most important ground positions for fighting and moving in very tight spaces. Transitioning to different postures and positions is a big part of training combat martial arts, as its crucial to be able to fight from any position.

BLACK SCORPION SYSTEM

Centipede is just one the many positions trained in Black Scorpion. The different animal sub-styles of Black Scorpion represent all possible ground-fighting & grappling positions the human body can be in. Together these styles create a powerful & complex ground combat system. This complete martial art contains the highest levels of; toughening, body conditioning, strength training, weapon training, striking, kicking, grappling, throws, chokes, strangles, joint locks, and chin na. The Black Scorpion System is trained for real combat vs multiple opponents and blends seamlessly with all standing martial arts taught in The Imperial 8 Animal System and Wu Tang Ch'uan. The Black Scorpion Ground-fighting system had been advertised and taught in the U.S. since 1962. Enter Page> Scorpion Kung Fu
