TAOIST THREE FORCES ANIMALS

The Taoist Three Forces Animals are three unique  combat martial arts taught as one complete combat system. This mixed martial art study taught at Imperial Combat Arts school in Denver Colorado, combines the rare Kung Fu styles of Spider, Ghost Bat, and The Golden Rat. This powerful mixed martial art system is based on the Taoist Three Forces Philosophy, and masters high level toughening, ground fighting, grappling, chin na, hand to hand, kicks, throws, and weapon mastery.

SPIDER KUNG FU

Spider Kung Fu is a large martial art that specializes in rope fighting, entrapment, strangulation, slight of hand, captures, and entanglement vs multiple opponents. Spider is a master of soft weapons, gripping, striking, throws, ground combat, and chin na. In addition Spider trains the combat applications of rope for use in man-traps, prisoner restraints, hunting, and primitive styles of climbing and rappelling. Spider Kung Fu is also taught as a sub-style of both Imperial Snake Kung Fu and Praying Mantis Kung Fu.

GHOST BAT KUNG FU

The Ghost Bat is a very rare and little known style of Kung Fu that masters circular running combat somewhat similar to Pakua but with focus on stealth, evasion, and complex body contortion at full speed. Running while fighting is an important part of training for real world combat when maneuvering over large areas or throughout multiple opponents. The Ghost Bat is also taught as a sub-style in both Imperial Snake Kung Fu and Praying Mantis Kung Fu.

GOLDEN RAT KUNG FU

Golden Rat Style Kung Fu is a fast and aggressive martial art that trains highly toughened knuckle strikes, bone breaking kicks, strong chin na grips, and fast pinches that remove areas of flesh. Rat specializes in long range striking, straight line running, charging, leaping, and full body collision. When testing Rat Masters break substance with their entire body at once, and often hit with doubles, complex combinations, or fast flurries. Golden Rat is also taught as a Sub-style of Wild Boar Kung Fu.

THE THREE FORCES ANIMALS

The three forces animals were fashioned after the animals that were found to frequent the Taoist Temples, the Spider, Bat, and Rat. Some Taoist priests came to see these animals as a representation of the three forces.
  • Spider represents Yin, patience, and grappling.
  • The Rat represent Yang, aggressiveness, seeking, leaping, kicking, and active hunting.
  • Bat represents Ho (balance) being both silent and invisible, while also active and dynamic.

By training all three forces one develops all the needed energies for a complete combat system with; grappling, stealth, striking, kicking, gripping, chin na, running, evasion, toughening, and weapons.

WEAPON MASTERY

The Three Forces Animals also master melee weapons for combat. The weapons of choice for each Animal directly complement their martial art making use of the same techniques and body development they've already mastered with the empty hand.
  • Spider Kung Fu masters soft weapons such as rope and jacket with their grappling and chin na as well as concealed daggers and blades (traditionally poisoned) with their mastery of slight of hand and illusion.
  • Rat trains dual wielding with hard weapons; clubs, iron clubs, iron rings, knives, and short swords.
  • Bat trains with both Yin and Yang weapons, using three types of flails, hatchet, and all of the Rat and Spider weapons.

IMPERIAL EIGHT ANIMALS

At Imperial Combat Arts The Three Forces Animals are taught as Sub-styles to the Eight Taoist Animal Styles. Each of the 8 Animal Styles is a complete martial art with its own master level toughening, ground fighting, grappling, Chin Na, hand to hand, kicks, throws, and weapon mastery. The 8 Animals each energetically represent one trigram of the Bagua. These Three Forces Styles are Sub-styles that in our own unique history have been chosen to help compliment and complete the styles of Snake, Mantis, and Boar.
