The Imperial Tiger Styles are designed to fight multiple opponents with lethal intent and come from a direct lineage of true combat level Tiger Kung Fu. At Imperial Combat Arts Tiger Kung Fu is a Mixed Martial Art containing 5 unique styles of Tiger, and other animal sub-styles that make this effective fighting style a complete martial art with master level toughening, ground fighting, grappling, chin na, hand to hand, kicks, throws, and weapon mastery.
IMPERIAL TIGER STYLES
Tiger masters at Imperial Combat Arts train and master 5 distinct styles of Tiger Kung Fu, and several sub-styles, that come together seamlessly as one complete Mixed Martial Art. These styles allow any size of fighter to master Tiger, and give Tiger Masters the ability to fight any size or type of fighter they encounter, both armed an unarmed. Imperial Tiger masters all realms of combat from grappling & ground-fighting to leaping and running.
NORTHERN TIGER KUNG FU
Nothern Tiger Kung Fu masters can power through the strongest defenses, killing with a single strike or grip, and can tear out the throat of an opponent, our Masters today demonstrate this ability on pig cadavers as part of Tiger training. Northern Tiger is the most physically powerful Tiger Style as the Northern Chinese people, Manchurians, and Mongolians are larger and stronger than the Southern Chinese People. Our U.S. Tiger Kung Fu Masters have been even larger one measuring 6'6" 260lbs.
"Northern Tiger techniques are mastered by people with 180+ pounds of force behind their grips. The average 18 year old today in the U.S. only pulls 60-80 pounds. It isn't that the move is impossible or doesn't work, it just won't work for someone so weak."

SHANGHAI TIGER KUNG FU
Shanghai Tiger Kung Fu is a more intelligent interpretation of Tiger with training and development put into each individual digit of the hand for single finger and thumb strikes to vital points as well as gripping and chin na not found in our other Tiger styles. Shanghai Tiger is favored by medium-weight masters and master who move into Tiger after training Animal Styles with intricate finger gripping such as Eagle, Panther, Adder, and Dog.
SOUTHERN TIGER KUNG FU
Southern Tiger is the fastest a lightest Tiger Kung Fu style at Imperial Combat Arts. While Southern Tiger practitioners may have smaller builds they still develop all the intensity and intimidation of the larger styles. And while they may not be able to tear the throat from their opponents and animal cadavers, they are required to be able to crush a throat within their highly trained Tigers Mouth grip in order to carry the title of Imperial Tiger Master.
BLACK TIGER KUNG FU
Black Tiger Kung Fu trains to the highest levels all of the stealth, ambush, and guerrilla tactics of true combat level Tiger Kung Fu. When many people think of Animal Styles they see them as done by a performer in a silk costume and don't realize that the true killing styles were real world martial arts that trained all the techniques of the animals they emulate like camouflage, stalking, and ambush.
WHITE TIGER KUNG FU
Imperial White Tiger Kung Fu is most noted for its extensive matching with one arm and in legend was incorporated into our arts as a sub style for combat amputees. White Tiger has since become an important part of mastering Imperial Tiger Kung Fu and trains to match all the other animals styles with one highly toughened arm at a time. These one armed Tiger techniques work well if the other is injured or if its busy fighting a second opponent. Enter Page> White Tiger Kung Fu
IMPERIAL TIGER SUB-STYLES
There are numerous Animal Kung Fu Styles trained in Chinese Martial Arts, most people only know of the 5 or 8 most commonly practiced styles in mainstream Kung Fu, and even online research today will only produce minimal information on a handful more. Through our own unique martial history Imperial Combat Arts teaches numerous Animal Kung Fu styles as Sub-styles of the Eight Imperial Animals. The particular sub-styles attached to each Animal directly complement the main style, and share similar modes of movement, toughening, and weapons allowing masters to quickly learn additional martial arts styles that are similar in nature to their own. Some of these sub-styles are very rare while others are famous and legendary in their own right.
BEAR KUNG FU
Bear Kung Fu is a lesser known fighting style that like several of the Imperial Animal Sub Styles is close to extinct. Bear is very much alive at Imperial Combat Arts and taught in full to its highest level as a sub style of Imperial Tiger. Bear Kung Fu is a powerful grappling style that incorporates the toughening, strikes, claws, ripping, and throat crushing grips of Tiger into standing chin na, wrestling, and grappling. Bear was also the 5th class officer rank in Imperial China for over 500 years. Enter Page> Bear Kung Fu
RHINO KUNG FU
Rhinoceros is not an animal people usually think of when it comes to Chinese Martial Arts. In actuality Rhino Kung Fu (also translated to Unicorn) is a tremendously powerful and effective fighting style, and was the 8th class military rank in China from 1391C.E. to 1911C.E. This martial arts signature hand weapons look just like the two horns of the Rhino and show up in several martial arts, usually arts associated with Tiger such as Pai Mei (Bak Mei) Kung Fu.
BULL KUNG FU
Bull Kung Fu was a popular military martial art in China often trained by 8th & 9th ranking officers. Like Bear and Rhino Kung Fu this martial art is aggressive and powerful. Bull Kung Fu masters toughen knuckle and fist strikes, ramming elbows, and full body collisions. Rhino Kung Fu and Bull Kung Fu both add some of the most powerful fist and knuckle strikes into Tigers already powerful style. In legend Bull Kung Fu Masters are said to be able to knock a horse and its rider to the ground with their powerful collisions.
TRAINING TIGER KUNG FU
To master Imperial Tiger Kung Fu our practitioners develop the highest levels of hand toughening, leg toughening, and body conditioning. There are numerous challenging exercises, forms, hundreds of sets for strikes, kicks, throws, and chin na, and of course matching. In addition Imperial Tiger trains all types of drills for combat, these drills make use of the usual martial arts mitts and bags, as well as several traditional and modern custom made devices.
TIGER TOUGHENING
Tiger Kung Fu masters at Imperial Combat Arts demonstrate the highest levels of hand toughening to meet the demands of true combat, far from wrapping the hands and wearing boxing gloves for sport. Unlike a technique, bone and joint toughening takes years to master, there is no rushing it, and if done improperly the hands can be permanently damaged. Imperial Combat Arts holds the ancient knowledge to truly and safely master these legendary Kung Fu hand weapons. Enter Page> Hand Toughening
TIGER EXERCISES
There a several levels of complex exercises required to develop the strong and powerful way in which Tiger moves and fights. These exercises are done both standing and on the ground with some of them more difficult than high levels of weightlifting, and while moving full speed. Unlike sport or fitness training these exercises are directly related to combat techniques.
TIGER FORMS
Tigers approach to forms is much different than that of the long intricate forms of Snake. Tiger Kung Fu forms have few moves, however each move is intense and powerful. An 8 minute form in Tiger is more challenging than sprinting for 8 minutes. Our forms are not like the flashy acrobatic forms you may see in popular modern form competitions. These forms are much more guarded, more practical, and train students in brutally effective techniques, that transfer directly to combat.
TIGER SETS
To train sets with a Imperial Tiger Kung Fu Master requires extensive arm toughening, most people would bow out after the first crossing of arms. When our Tigers Masters train their arm vs. arm toughening is powerful enough to break a mans arm. This high level toughening is part of how Tiger Kung Fu powers through normal combat defenses. Sets and forms are the primary ways that Masters pass on ancient knowledge to the next Masters.
TIGER DRILLS
Combat drills are an important part of all Imperial Combat Ats classes. Drills are used to incorporate strikes, techniques, maneuvers, etc. into the body as a second nature reflex, as is required for battle. Imperial Tiger Kung Fu drills are done vs partners, mitts, and bags as well as a series of custom training devices and machines that are unique to Imperial Tiger Kung Fu alone. Some of Tigers custom equipment requires years of toughening to even begin to use.
TIGER MATCHING
Animal Kung Fu mastery requires a lot of matching. Imperial Tiger Kung Fu matching is done vs multiple opponents and often times on with only one arm or blindfolded. There are no rings, gloves, or pads used in Animal Matching. High level animal practitioners rely on their control, indomitable defenses, and body toughening to match each other without causing serious injury, Tiger Kung Fu practitioners match each other, as well as the other Animal Styles.
THE TIGER MIND
Mastering Tiger Kung Fu, like all the Animal Styles requires development of a predatory mind and the spirit of the Animal Style. Tiger Kung Fu Masters at Imperial Combat Arts are forged through sheer willpower toughening, pain, and meditation. Everything about Tiger Masters emanates power, intensity, and intimidation. Everything, the way they think, stand, move, fight, stare, growl, strike, and kill. Tigers Masters have the ability to go from placid to their full combat energy in one second.

TIGER WEAPON MASTERY
Imperial Combat Arts Animal Styles each master their own specialty weapons for combat. The weapons of choice for each Animal directly complement their martial art making use of the same techniques and body development they've already mastered with the empty hand. This training is nothing like the Wushu and Shaolin use of flashy acrobatics and flimsy aluminum weapons. This is a fully engage traditional study of real combat weapons as seen in the ancient military. Tiger Kung Fu weapons can only be wielded by the strongest martial artists.
BATTLEFIELD WEAPONS
All Imperial Combat Arts students train traditional battlefield weapons before training specialty weapons. Battlefield weapons are weapons that were issued weapons of war, some with thousands of years of of use. These weapons include, spears, swords, axes, halberds, shields, bows, and crossbows. The first weapons all students learn at Imperial Combat Arts are the modern weapons students most likely face today which are knife, gun, club, and improvised weapons.
IMPERIAL EIGHT ANIMALS
Imperial Tiger Kung Fu is one of eight main Animal Styles taught at Imperial Combat Arts. Each of the 8 Animal Styles is a complete martial art with its own master level toughening, ground fighting, grappling, Chin Na, hand to hand, kicks, throws, and weapon mastery. The 8 Animals each energetically represent one trigram of the Bagua.
Tiger was chosen to represent Tien ☰ (Ch'ien, 乾, Qián) in the Pakua (Bagua). Tien represents Heaven, Sky, Father, Power, Force, and Creative Energy, and Metal. Tien consists of three Yang Lines making Tiger Kung Fu the most Yang, most extroverted and aggressive animal martial art taught in the Eight Taoist Animal System at Imperial Combat Arts. |
