The Six Secret Teaching of T'ai Kung Jiang Ziya who was a military adviser to King Wen and King Wu, and helped them to defeat the Shang Dynasty’s last king establishing the Zhou Dynasty in 1046 B.C.E. I. CIVIL SECRET TEACHINGSThis chapter discusses how T'ai Kung came to be a General and adviser to Kings. Chapter one also explains how the state should be organized to create a thriving economy and provide a strong basis for survival, and the foundation for warfare.
II. MARTIAL SECRET TEACHINGSThe second chapter analyzes the weaknesses of the current government to find assets for revolution. This includes finding allies in the state, employing subterfuge, psychological manipulation, and how to win the hearts and minds of the people.
III. DRAGON SECRET TEACHINGSThe Dragon lessons address; military organization, selecting officers, rewards and punishment, maintaining command, troop unity , use of secrecy, reading enemies, communication, command errors, and how to prevent disorder & confusion.
IV. TIGER SECRET TEACHINGSTiger lessons teach maneuverability, unified action, decisive commitment, misdirection, & ambushes.
Other lesson include observing nature, terrain, and human psychology for combat advantage, as well as retreats from adverse battlefield situations. V. LEOPARD SECRET TEACHINGSLeopard teaches tactics for fighting on difficult terrain like forests, mountains, ravines, lakes, rivers, and valleys. As well as methods to contain rampaging invaders, confront superior forces, deploy effectively, and act explosively.
VI. DOG SECRET TEACHINGSDog teaches several miscellaneous lessons such as the employment of the 3 forces (Infantry, Cavalry, & Chariots) in a variety of combat situations, as well as how these forces compare with one another in combat. Dog also teaches how to exploit enemies.
