IMPERIAL COBRA KUNG FU
黑眼镜蛇式功夫

Imperial Cobra Kung Fu is a combat level martial art taught at Imperial Combat Arts school in Denver Colorado. Cobra style Kung Fu is a sub-style of Imperial Snake Kung Fu that masters long range attacks, powerful whipping backhand strikes, highly toughened fingers, devastating kicks, standing chin na, joint destruction, and a vast system of complex throws.
Cobra Kung Fu
Masters of Cobra Style Kung Fu develop specialized modes of movement for use in combat such as; dynamic circular rhythms, fluid relaxed weight, and fast heavy footwork that uses whirling, spinning, dropping, and unique extension of the legs.

COBRA THROWS

Standing combat throws are one of Cobras prime specialties. These 256 throws use Cobra Style's unique modes of movement and mastery of Ts'o Ku style Chin Na in a large and complex throwing system.  Cobra throws use powerful stances, steps, and pivots to generate incredible force in pulling, whipping, and whirling that at times can cause their opponent/training partner to be fully extended and airborne, being spun about like an Olympic hammer throw. Cobra Masters use these throws to send opponents flying into other people, objects, or into places that cause harm, like out windows, down stairwells etc.

Cobra throws also specialize in powerful yanking and pulling that often suddenly switches direction. These style throws can easily pull a joint from its socket, break a limb, or the neck when thrown by the head. Just to partner for Cobra throws requires extensive body and joint conditioning as unconditioned people easily suffer whiplash, or a dislocated joint. Many of these throws can only be practiced on specialized throwing dummies as they are designed to break the arms or neck.

To learn Cobra Kung Fu throws requires deep internalization, slow movements, and a master level understanding body mechanics. These throws however are performed blindingly fast, often breaking a punching arm or kicking leg in just one or two seconds. Cobra will throw their opponent by the fingers, wrists, arms, head, or legs, as well as the hair and clothing. Cobra Kung Fu throws depend on, and blend seamlessly with striking, kicking, chin na, and are also used with melee weapons.

COBRA TOUGHENING

Cobra Kung Fu Masters at Imperial Combat Arts demonstrate the highest levels of hand toughening to meet the demands of true combat, far from wrapping the hands and wearing boxing gloves for sport. Unlike a technique, bone and joint toughening takes years to master, there is no rushing it, and if done improperly the hands can be permanently damaged. Cobra develops two specialty weapons that set it apart from most mainstream martial arts. Enter Page> Hand Toughening

COBRA TAIL

The Cobra Tail is a relaxed and heavy full body backhand strike that can kill with a single hit. These strikes hit as hard as the strongest kicks. It takes a few years to master this powerful strike, and without the toughening this level of force would easily break the hand. In demonstration a Cobra Tail vs a heavy bag will stop a room of training people in surprise. Against all warning, those who attempt to emulate this strike on their own show up next in a cast or sling. Snake Masters hit with this strike barehanded vs wood and concrete at full force.

COBRA FANGS

The Cobra Fangs are used in very fast speed trained strikes, primarily to the eyes, using just two fingers. Masters demonstrate these weapons by striking through wood & melons, and test their strikes on animal cadavers. Striking with two fingers through substance like a watermelon may seem easy to those who haven't tried it, but the force required can easily break fingers. It requires years of toughening and incredible speed, strength, and intent to perform these feats. If you cant do these feats than your nowhere near using Cobra Fangs in a real fight.

COBRA EXERCISES

There a several levels of exercise trained in Cobra Kung Fu that develop the physical strength and body conditioning Cobra uses to fight. These exercises are done both standing and on the ground. Some of these exercises can be more difficult than the highest levels of Yoga just to hold, and while moving full speed. It takes a lot of deep internalization to learn to move and fight like a Cobra Master, and to perfect the styles circular snake like rhythms that give it so much power in combat.

COBRA STRENGTH TRAINING

The challenging exercises of Cobra training strengthen the entire body for combat especially the back, neck, wrists, and legs. This strength training not only enables Cobra to perform its techniques, but also to negate and protect from attack. Cobra's neck and back strength, and how it holds its postures, help protect from chokes, and strikes, and the styles unique leg extension and stances work to counter and negate common throwing systems and take downs.

COBRA FORM

There is one large form trained in Imperial Cobra Kung Fu. This ancient forms holds a vast amount of knowledge about Cobra Kung Fu and every set included in these forms has and will work in combat vs. multiple opponents. Our forms are not like the flashy acrobatic forms you may see in popular modern form competitions. These forms are much more guarded, more practical, and train students in brutally effective Cobra techniques, that transfer directly to training sets, matching, and combat.

COBRA SETS

Sets are an important part of training Cobra Kung Fu, and work to perfect techniques that cannot be performed safely in matching. These combat techniques and throws are practiced over and over with training partners to develop the reflexes, muscle memory, and mastery of each technique for combat use. Imperial Cobra Kung Fu trains these sets vs multiple opponents, including sets for strikes, kicks, counters attacks, Chin Na, grappling, throws, evasion, and weapons.

COBRA STRANGLES & CHOKES

Unlike Python Kung Fu which specializes in all manner of chokes and strangles, Cobra Kung Fu prefers standing head/neck controls and momentary chokes that lead into isolating the neck for neck breaking throws. These throws and controls flow like strong currents of water using the weight of an opponents body against their own joints. There are only a few chokes in Cobra compared to Pythons 192 specialized Chokes and Strangles and Python will often transition to Cobra to turn their choke into a Cobra Style break.

COBRA JOINT ATTACKS - CHIN NA

Cobra Kung Fu uses Chin Na primarily for long range throws and joint destruction. Snake Masters will transition from Cobra into Python or Adder for deep grappling and ground-fighting. These Cobra Style Ts'o Ku Chin Na attacks are applied against all joints including the small joints like fingers & wrists. While Cobra may hold momentary joint locks, holds, chokes, or strangles most of their focus is on destroying the joint quickly, to move to the next opponent.

COBRA MELEE WEAPONS

Cobra as a heavy and fluid power-style fights with long range pole-arms, swords, and soft weapons that can be applied directly to its style of fighting. The weapons of choice for Cobra Kung Fu directly complement its martial art by making use of the same techniques and body development they've already mastered with the empty hand. Cobra Kung Fu has its own unique ancient weapons, and favored battlefield weapons for ranged combat, long weapons, and for close quarters combat.

IMPERIAL SNAKE STYLES

Cobra is one of five Snake Kung Fu styles that come together to create the complete combat martial art of Imperial Snake Kung Fu. Below are brief descriptions of the other 4 Snake Styles. Snake Masters at Imperial Combat Arts have trained and mastered all five styles.

PYTHON KUNG FU
白蟒式功夫

Python is a high level combat art that masters powerful palm strikes, highly toughened fingers, powerful kicks, and a massive system of grappling, chokes, strangles, joint attacks, and throws. Several of our masters taught Jujitsu before joining Imperial Combat Arts and training Python for combat with its toughened fingers, throat crushing grips, lethal tail strikes, and the deadly grappling.

VIPER KUNG FU
红黄颔蛇式功夫

Imperial Viper is a high-speed combat style that trains primarily striking and kicking. Viper specializes in toughened knuckle strikes, counter grappling, and fighting larger opponents. Viper style uses numerous complex and ever-changing patterns that have high percentage success in confusing and controlling opponents to open vital point strikes. Like all the Imperial Snake styles Viper toughens its hands and legs for years to weaponize its body for combat.

ASP KUNG FU
蓝蝮蛇式功夫

Imperial Asp Style Kung Fu is designed after small but deadly snakes such as the Mamba. This extremely fast-moving martial art specializes in fast fingertip strikes and powerful blade hand hits to vital points. Asp Masters at Imperial Combat Arts are experts of high speed bobbing, weaving, and evasive maneuvers to get into striking range and spend many hours training to evade and counter the high level Chin Na and Grappling of our other Animal Styles.

ADDER KUNG FU
绿毒蛇式功夫

Imperial Adder is a devastating Snake Kung Fu that specializes in toughened knuckle and finger strikes, Chin Na, ripping & gouging, as well as painful and powerful grips that often crush the throat. Adder Masters are equally at home fighting on their feet or the ground. Unlike the heavy throws of Python and Cobra, Adder uses it strikes, grips, and Chin Na for tight twisting bring-downs and take-downs. Adder has numerous nerve attacks, and is a master of afflicting pain.

IMPERIAL EIGHT ANIMALS

Picture
Imperial Snake Kung Fu is one of eight main Animal Styles taught at Imperial Combat Arts. Each of the 8 Animal Styles is a complete martial art with its own master level toughening, ground fighting, grappling, Chin Na, hand to hand, kicks, throws, and weapon mastery. The 8 Animals each energetically represent one trigram of the Bagua.
Snake was chosen to represent
☷ Kūn 坤 in the Pakua (Bagua). Kun represents Earth, Mother, Yin, Receptive Energy, and Self Control. Kun consists of three Yin Lines making Snake Kung Fu the most Yin animal martial art taught in the Eight Animal System at Imperial Combat Arts.
